A great experience
This varied boat tour is a great experience for young and old. On this day you will discover the beautiful countryside of Groningen from the water and you will come to places where you normally cannot come. Among other things, you will sail past the well-known villages of Garnwerd and Zoutkamp. Along the way there is plenty of time to disembark and stretch your legs.
Tip: The Reitdieptour is also very suitable for clubs or a staff party.

The city tour is a very fun activity to do with the family. In one hour you sail through the canals of Groningen and get info on the different sights. The drinks were well taken care of. Definitely recommended! Not only for people outside the city of Groningen, but also as city dwellers we found it very fun.

No, unfortunately, you are not allowed to have your own drinks or food on board. Of course, it is possible to order dinner or lunch. Please check out our menu! Would you like to have lunch or dinner on board? Please let us know in the reservation request what you would like to have.
Is there an audio guide on board?
During the boat tour, there will be an audio guide telling you about the sights you are passing. This guide is available in several languages.
What is the price of a boat tour?
The price for adults is €17, - p.p., for children aged 4 to 11, this is €10, -. Children under 4 do not have to pay.
Is there a toilet on board?
We have a toilet on all our boats, except for our open boat the 'Pronkjewail'.
Can I buy refreshments on board?
You have the opportunity to buy refreshments on all of our boats.
Do you have to pay for children between 0 and 3 years old?
No, you can bring children aged between 0 to 3 for free. The special price for children aged between 4 and 11 is €10.
Is there heating on board?
Yes, all our boats are heated, except, of course, our uncovered boat “De Pronkjewail”.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are allowed on board. You don't have to pay anything extra.

The route of the Reitdieptour
After leaving the boat dock opposite the station, the trip first goes through one of the oldest parts of the city, the Hoge- and Lager der Aa. Then we sail past the Hofstede, the Grootkade and Paddepoel out of the city towards Dorkwerd. In the Dokwerd lock, we are shot 1.80 m down, a fun experience for those who have not experienced this before.
Course to Garnwerd
Then we stick it from Strarkenborgh Canal over and around the old 'Mushroom'we set sail for Garnwerd. We pass through the villages Wieringen fireplace and Oostum and it won't take long before we see the beautiful mill of Garnwerd get into the picture.
At Garnwerd, we pass by the famous Hammingh cafe and Garnwerd aan Zee. We continue the journey and come through a deserted part of Reitdiep. Only meadows, the dyke, the grazing cows and sometimes a beautiful clipper are the silent witnesses of our trip. After a few large circular loops in the Reitdiep, we pass the old “sides” of Aduarderzijl. Characteristic is one of the most famous white houses in our province, which has been recognisable from afar above the dyke for centuries.
Lunch & fishing museum in Zoutkamp
In the next long bend, we pass Sheephalterzijl and Red Rooster and head towards a familiar name: Electra. Now it's not far to Salt Camp. The Reitdiep is already getting visibly wider here and once in Zoutkamp, we dock for a lunch stop. In Zoutkamp, you can have a bite to eat in a (fish) restaurant, have a fish on the dike, have a snack or eat your own sandwiches. Of course, this is also possible on board, where you can also buy a cup of coffee/tea or soft drinks. Do you want to have lunch on board? Then check out our menu and specify what you would like to eat when booking.
There is also time to take a look at the cozy Fisheries Museum, visit Zoutkamp or enjoy the view from the dike and stretch your legs.
From the Lauwersmeer area back to Groningen
Once we are all back on board, we will continue the journey through the Zoutkamp lock and cross the Salt honeysuckle to the beautiful Lauwersmeer area for a cruise. Here we also see the Oostmahorn lighthouse, which recalls the time when the Lauwersmeer was still Lauwerszee and ebb and flow still had their influence here.
Then we set sail again to Zoutkamp and head back to Aduarderzijl. Here we go through the old lock at the 'Zijlen' and sail over the last part of the trip towards Oostersluis in Groningen. After this last impressive 'obstacle', we sail to the boat dock near the station. End of a varied day trip for young and old.
